This is me!

Hello to all! Welcome, and thank you for checking out my blog!

This is my new blog about my portfolio and influences to my art.

First off, my art is highly tied to what I love... Movies. But not just any movies, Science-Fiction, Horror, even Fantasy catch my attention. I enjoy exploring the different creatures and human-like beings often depicted in these types of movies, but only because I'm infatuated with how the character is portrayed and where I go with my judgment based purely on the outward appearance. I also enjoy picking apart the make-up in my mind and trying to find the true face underneath. I find it amazing how such a little change to a person's appearance can alter many people's perception of who the disguisee is. A black/swollen eye can cause some people to think that the individual with the bruised/swollen eye are hooligans, or are violent, when in reality, the injured could have been jumped or even just had a misunderstanding with the wrong person.

In movies, the characters are perfectly exaggerated in order to give us a quick perception of who or what they are. If you see an angel in a movie, you look at the white wings and halo and automatically think that they are most-likely a "good guy." Yet give the angel black wings and horns, and the perception switches to thinking he's probably a "bad guy." This is what I like to focus on, how the change in appearance changes your attitude toward the individual.

I enjoy focusing on this because we as a society can do this constantly throughout a day. We judge someone simply on the way they look. We even play the role of being put into the disguise by changing our appearance when we feel we need to.

So, my art is based upon this idea: How your conception of someone is influenced purely on outward appearance, and how little it can take to change that appearance that has such an impact.

I'll be posting many photos and posts on different special effects make-up. Hope you all enjoy!

Dr. Who?! Exactly!

So I'm a huge nerd for the Dr. Who series (the newer version [the original series was lost when the studio the film was kept in caught on fire. The new series uses plenty of amazing special effects makeup]). The creatures shown on the show blow my mind. Here are some of the monsters, aliens, or whats-its that have caught my eye throughout the series. Cheers and enjoy!

The Silurians
Spider Empress of Racnoss

Cassandra, the "Last" human of the future. She may seem harmless, but she sure is wicked.
The Silence
The Judoon
The Dalek (Evolved version)

The infamous Oods

More to come when I can find more sources. This is really the later seasons. The first few had some amazing monsters as well.
